LASIK surgery can dramatically improve a person's vision by reducing refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. During the LASIK procedure, an instrument called a microkeratome creates a thin corneal flap.  Harnessing the precision of the excimer laser, the LASIK surgeon reshapes the cornea, improving the eye's ability to refract light.  The flap is then replaced in its original position.  LASIK is performed as an outpatient procedure and many people return to work the next day. CustomVUE LASIK, a state of the art diagnostic system that captures a 'fingerprint" of the eye is also available at Eye Centers of Ohio. Each procedure is custom designed by the unique characteristics of your individual eye for smoother and more precise treatments, resulting in improvement in visual acuity and better night vision.
